It was built in 1851 to improve access to the nearby Valle di Ledro and after 1992 it was closed to traffic.

We stopped by for lunch after hiking up to the Santa Barbara church, the food was a welcome reprieve. The carpaccio di carne salada was very good, as was the octopus.

Riva del Garda lies at the foot of the gargantuan Monte Rocchetta which soars to a height of 1,575 metres above sea level, just west of the town. You can take a funicular railway part of the way up the mountain to reach a little restaurant called Bastione and enjoy some incredible panoramas down on to the town and across the lake.

Oct 2022. Despite it was September we have decided to go to the beach, relax a little and of course swim in the lake. It is not so easy to start swimming because of rocky ground. However all beach, views are really beautiful. Suggest edits to improve what we show.

View that you can’t miss! We took funicular ride to visit Bastion. Amazing view at lake Garda and beautiful Riva del Garda. We haven’t been visited the restaurant at the top. But don’t miss this funicular ride, it’s great experience. And 5€ (round ride) per person is totally affordable. IKvg9.
